PROJECT 2A

The Discovery Center (Genius Loci)

The “study area” for Project 2 is Kampung Janda Baik and the specific area will be along Jalan Sumsum Hilir and Jalan Kampung Janda Baik. Two dedicated specific sites have been selected for students to select from to design the discovery center. One site will be next to the Masjid Janda Baik (Site A) and the other one would at Tapak KOBAIK next to Pasar Mini Daily Fresh " Fz Pasar Segar 2 “ (Site B). Please refer to appendix.
It’s important to not just understand the physical characteristic of the site but it is also crucial to understand the people, community, culture, activities, and history of the site because it contributes to the identity of the “place”. Students may read up about Kampung Janda Baik in the book by Dr Kamaruzaman Moidunny and Zabidi Othman.

Site Analysis, Site Response and Design Concept

Project 2a is a “tutorial team” group project. In groups of sixteen (16), the team will need to distribute the given tasks wisely to carry out the site analysis. There are five (5) division of tasks to be completed within the duration of less than two (2) weeks. All item to be presented as a slide presentation except, the site plan, site sections, site model and the visceral board (manually produce).

Grouping

In this project we were all assigned in one group. Every people in the same tutorial group are to work together as a team and I never experience this before.

Task

In this project I was assigned to do diagrams with Adric and Jun Qian

Conclusion

After project 2A I have learned a lot on how to work with a big group of people and I also very happy that I can go to site visit with all my class mate and overall I have a very good experience in this project and I hope that in the next project I can use what I have learnt in the next assignment and hope that I can do a better job.
